Review: Billionaire’s Jet Set Babies by Catherine Mann
October 5, 2011 in Harlequin Desire, October 2011, Reviews by Amelia
What starts out as a business venture steadily turns into something much more in this engaging Billionaires and Babies installment for the Harlequin Desire line. Catherine Mann adds a special story to the series, as her likable main couple must face a multitude of emotional and decisive choices with each passing day they spend together.
Although Alexa Randall has come upon an assortment of objects when she cleans jets chartered out to various people, she is totally astounded when she discovers two babies. The plane belongs to Seth Jansen, an innovative businessman, and a note left with the twins tells that their mother is leaving the infants in the care of their father for awhile. When Seth arrives shortly thereafter, he is upset with his ex-wife and also realizes he must get someone to watch the children during his upcoming business trip. Since he already knows much about Alexa as she has recently approached him about setting up a contract with her jet cleaning company, he wants her to accompany him to Florida and be a nanny to his kids when no other option works out.
The only reason Alexa agrees to his offer is because Seth promises to help her almost certainly land more contracts for her company, making this opportunity too good to pass up. Even though she once had a life filled with riches, those days are gone and she wants her business to be successful in the future. Seth plans to concentrate on a new deal and Alexa hopes to advance her career while in Florida, but neither imagined how much their personal lives would also come into play.
Catherine Mann creates believably realistic characters. No matter what career they have chosen or how life treats them, they come across as individuals who have no trouble convincing the reader that they might perhaps exist, and frequently you truly want to consider the possibility. The hero and heroine in BILLIONAIRE’S JET SET BABIES have some of the same problems as ordinary folks, although one was once privileged and the other is currently. Ms. Mann shows how money does not keep emotional issues from touching anyone, even a billionaire, and this makes for plenty of gripping scenarios where feelings are often revealed and have surprising results. I enjoy reading about characters with whom I can connect, and Seth plus Alexa had me experiencing their happiest pleasures or the times when anguish is the only sentiment they feel at that particular moment. While the two delightful twins are featured throughout the book, it is the lives of those responsible for them which continuously grab your attention. These two go through a number of emotions from the start of the book until its satisfying conclusion, and each set of circumstances touches you on some level and makes you care. Insight is given concerning the pasts of Seth and Alexa, and this helps explain some of their reactions. The desire felt by these two for the other is extremely potent from their first meeting, and how they express their yearning is heated yet poignant on every occasion. BILLIONAIRE’S JET SET BABIES captivatingly entwines fatherhood and sensuality to create an enchanting romantic novel.
