Review: The Man With the Money by Lynn Raye Harris
October 31, 2011 in Harlequin Presents, November 2011, Reviews by Debby
Jack Wolfe likes high stakes games and is delighted to enter a game at his old nemesis’s new casino. While the games no longer interest him as much as they used to, Jack finds himself intrigued with the dealer and spends as much time watching her as the cards. Cara Taylor has to play the hand dealt her and she knows one card she will return to the deck is a card shark like Jack. But somehow, as the hand folds, she finds herself part of the pot and Jack is the winner. Cara is not sure she likes how it will all play out but one thing she does know – playing this game with Jack could be a lot of fun.
The Man With the Money has depths to it that can only be appreciated when you read the last word and think back. Cara is a fantastic heroine but would not let anyone help while Jack, sexiness himself, would not let anyone in. And yet they could not seem to resist each other. Both were haunted by their past and the hand life dealt them. They needed to play that hand or fold. Lynn Raye Harris has created two memorable characters and given them the perfect story. After much pain and soul searching, will these two find their way back to each other? You will need to read Lynn Raye Harris’s wonderful The Man With the Money to find out. You will not be disappointed.
