Review: AFTER THE STORM by Amy Knupp

Nadia Hamlin rushed to retrieve files from her hotel office as a hurricane bears down on San Amaro Island.  Despite her frantic efforts, she is caught in gale force winds that sends a sign slamming into her would be rescuer, firefighter Penn Griffin.  The accident causes a back injury that ends Penn’s firefighting career .

Penn is attracted to Nadia and they tried dating before the accident but now he is in pain, angry and blaming her for his problems.  If she had left the island when the evacuation was first called, Penn would still have the career he loves.  Nadia is guilt ridden but she knows that there is no turning back and Penn needs to pull himself up and go on with life.  Her efforts to help are not appreciated and Penn sends mixed messages about how he feels about her.  Nadia refuses to admit defeat especially when she realizes she is falling in love with him.

Talented romance author Amy Knupp populates her stories with smoldering hot firefighters and their independently strong partners which causes some sexy combustion on the page.  AFTER THE STORM is a powerful story about a firefighter that is unable to do his job and the resulting crisis in his life.  Amy Knupp’s marvelous writing skills in AFTER THE STORM have her readers captivated as they are shown firsthand the challenges for a strong virile person as he struggles to allow others to see his weakness, accept help and hopefully find love along the way.
