The innovative premise of the Demon Blade miniseries makes the first novel come across like no other before it, and each new detail revealed only added to my initial astonishment. How Doranna Durgin comes up with such inventive plots truly amazes me, as TAMING THE DEMON is notably creative plus ground-breaking.

Although Devin James never asked for the demon blade and its mysterious abilities to be a part of his life, he cannot keep from being controlled by it. He now has to roam Albuquerque, where he must be on the lookout for situations where innocent individuals come under attack by anyone with wicked intentions. The blade has the capability to identify the site where these situations will take place, and it knows exactly how to handle anything that arises. At the latest location he is compelled to go, Devin finds a woman being threatened by two men.

When Natalie Chambers arrives at the destination where she was sent by her boss, she feels the area is too unsafe to remain but is accosted before she can make it back to her car. After another man comes and keeps her from being harmed, she in turn helps him because he was injured aiding her. Though she does not fully understand what is happening to him because of the blade he constantly carries, she believes in him plus feels he is the right person to make certain no one else comes after her. As they stay in close contact with each other, the answers to some of the questions puzzling them both are discovered. What they learn can deeply affect their future lives and the love growing between them.

TAMING THE DEMON frequently causes reactions filled with wonder, as Doranna Durgin has created one surprising situation after another. When the story first begins, much about the link between Devin and the demon blade is unknown. As new facts come to light, I certainly became more fascinated with how he was repeatedly influenced by the piece of steel. While quite a few specifics are eventually divulged, there is still more history about this dangerous object that I hope will be disclosed in upcoming books. Ms. Durgin does not make finding any answers easy for Devin or Natalie, and what they must go through in order to obtain much of the needed information is often frightening and sometimes even tormenting. There are several moments where I empathized with Devin and all he had to suffer, both physically and mentally, particularly when an incident is totally confusing for him. How Natalie stands by him, even when she does not know the whole truth, is really praiseworthy and proves she has much inner goodness. These two work so well together, and they demonstrate their loyalty to the other on numerous occasions. Their sexual feelings grow along with their emotional connection, and each sentiment is expressed with genuine honesty. I liked how these two are always up-front with their thoughts, as it made their relationship more realistic. The conclusion of the story is definitely interesting, and there is no telling what will happen next. TAMING THE DEMON has adventures involving uncertainty and countless risks.
