Review: THE GREEK’S PREGNANT LOVER by Lucy Monroe

12:15 pm in Harlequin Presents, Lucy Monroe, Reviews by Donna Zapf

Years ago as children, Neo and Zephyr became lifetime friends while living in a Greek orphanage.  Together they escaped and worked their way to the United States to make their fortune.  Today, these two powerful men trust few people besides each other.  Neo at last found his soul mate and is about to be married but Zephyr knows better, he can never love or be loved.

Piper Madison is a designer working for Zephyr’s company.  They are friends with benefits, which is agreeable for both of them.  Piper survived a broken marriage and a cheating ex-husband while Zephyr’s past resulted in his mistrust, after all his own mother left him in an orphanage.  Fate has other plans for the two when Piper becomes pregnant and finally admits that she is in love with Zephyr.  However, Zephyr does not know how to love.

THE GREEK’S PREGNANT LOVER is a beautiful love story set in the bustling port of Seattle and the magnificent country of Greece.   Masterfully told by best selling author Lucy Monroe, this is Zephyr’s tale, a driven tycoon who has everything but love.  His past prevents him from admitting his need and even from recognizing true love when it is freely given by his caring insightful lover, Piper.  Complex characters, exotic locals, and a compelling plot snares the reader from the first, unfolding smoothly to deliver a happily ever after that ends with a sated sigh.

CataRomance Blog: Favorite Summer Activities by Lucy Monroe

1:00 am in Blog, Lucy Monroe by Donna Zapf

When I was younger, my favorite summertime activity was camping and reading.  Not at the same time though. :)   I read all summer long under the apple tree in our back yard.  Things changed after my parent’s divorce, but not that – I kept reading, anytime, anyplace.  We rarely camped though…until I married and had my own children and then we started that wonderful activity all over again.  But it got edged out as favorite by travel.  We’ve taken our children all over the US in the car and all over the world by plane and cruise liner and we loved it all!  But two years ago, summers changed for us always as we awaited the arrival of our first grandchild.  Yes, I’m a young grandmother. LOL  So, this summer, we’re on baby watch again.  The pregnancy is a little trickier with my younger daughter feeling the need to eface and dilate well ahead of schedule.  We need to keep that baby baking in mommy’s oven though!

It’s a busy time with new books coming out back-to-back-to-back and celebrating my silver (25th release) with Harlequin as well as my gold (50th) release over all.

So, what about you?  Any fun plans for the summer?
Hugs,
Lucy

July 2010 Harlequin Presents  release

THE SHY BRIDE

Review: THE SHY BRIDE by Lucy Monroe

1:00 am in Harlequin Presents, July 2010, Lucy Monroe, Reviews by Donna Zapf

Annually, despite her debilitating shyness, famed pianist Cassandra Baker donates personal piano lessons to be auctioned for charity.  This year the recipient of the lessons is Neo Stamos, a self-made real estate tycoon.  Neither Cassandra nor Neo are excited about the prospect of the lessons until they meet and an instant connection is made.

Neo recognizes Cassandra as a lovely retiring woman with a sharp wit and underlying passion.  Cassandra senses the arrogant, no-nonsense, public man as well as the perceptive, kind, private man in Neo.  Together, they form a friendship that develops into so much more.

Best selling author Lucy Monroe creates a classic romance with THE SHY BRIDE.   The hero and heroine have deep seated emotional wounds that very few others have bothered to acknowledge much less address.  They are valued for their public faces, a rich handsome magnate and a world renowned pianist, and as a result both put up barriers, hiding behind work and shyness.  Ms. Monroe brilliantly portrays Cassandra and Neo, exposing their hurts and demonstrating the healing power of love.  THE SHY BRIDE  will leave a smile on your face.

CataRomance Guest Blog: My Mom, My Hero by Lucy Monroe

7:12 am in Blog, Lucy Monroe by Donna Zapf

My mom is one of the most important people in my life.  She’s been one of my best friends, an amazing role model and mentor and so many things in between.  Mother’s Day is such an important holiday for me because I want her always to know how very much I love and admire her.  Recently, I had some serious problems with my back that resulted in agonizing pain for several months, during which I did most of my writing one handed lying on my side.  I smiled a lot and kept a positive attitude and people kept asking me how I did that.  The truth?  My mom has suffered chronic debilitating pain for decades and continues to be this amazing woman who laughs and smiles and makes life pretty great for her family and friends.  How could I not with inspiration like that?
Every year we celebrate Mother’s Day is a gift, but particularly since she was diagnosed with a terminal illness for which treatment has been ineffective.  Each day with her is a miraculous present we do not take for granted.  Though she did not read romance, my mom supported me for the entire 9 years it took to publish my first book.  She believed in me when I doubted myself.  She cheered me on and spurred me forward, never allowing me to even consider giving up.  Despite her illness, she attends my book signings and shows her love for me in so many ways.  I pray often to be a mother as wonderful as my own and watch my daughters as they move into parenthood and see so much of my mom in them – what a gift!

My first and only Mother’s Day book, The Sicilian’s Marriage Arrangement, is going to be re-released as a Harlequin Showcase 2-in-1 with Julia James’ The Greek’s Virgin Bride on May 11.  It’s a pretty neat celebration of a holiday that will always be entwined with my mom’s deep love and constant support for me.

Review, Valentino’s Love-Child by Lucy Monroe

7:57 pm in Harlequin Presents, Lucy Monroe, May 2009, Reviews by Lettetia

Valentino Grisafi is an extraordinary Italian vintner. He is strong and untamed, sexy and sinfully handsome. He is also a widower with a young son. He has closed off his heart to all but his son.

His lover of the past year, American artist, Faith Williams is also a widow. With the anniversary of their becoming lovers approaches, Faith wants something more from their relationship but Tino is determined to keep things as they are for he has no desire to marry again. If he were to ever marry, it would be to a Sicilian woman, not an American.

With no way to go forward with Tino, Faith breaks off her relationship with the stubborn man though she loves him deeply. When she finds out she is carrying his child, she is determined to move on with her life. Will Tino ever change his mind about marriage or will he sacrifice Faith and seeing his child grow up?

Valentino’s Love-Child brought out a range of emotions from this reader. From anger over Tino’s treatment of Faith to sadness over Faith’s unrequited love to anticipation whether Tino will relent and admit his deep love for her, Lucy Monroe knows the human heart and what makes a great love story.
