Review: Moutain Wild By Stacy Kayne

9:21 am in Harlequin Historical, July 2009, New Releases, Reviews, Stacey Kayne by Debby

Maggie has spent many years in the wild. Fear for her life led her to flee and now this is the only way she knows to survive. Even to protect the sanctuary of her location, she knows she cannot leave a man to die in the snow, especially one of the few men to ever show her kindness. She must help him and with no other choice she brings him to her safe haven. Garret Daines can’t believe the beautiful woman nursing him is the one known as Mad Mag. She touches him as no woman has before and he knows he would do anything to keep her safe and in his life. Maggie has lived in her shell for so long that she is not sure how to react to this man who shows her kindness. Maggie’s past has not been filled with friendly people and now that past is coming back to haunt her and Garret may be the only one who can save her.

Stacy Kayne will keep you on the edge of your seat as the plot for Mountain Wild unfolds. Maggie was a fantastic heroine. She had been dealt a bad hand in life and turned it into a winning one. Strong and very capable, she was a perfect match for Garrett. We met Garrett in a prior book and he grew into a sexy and compassionate man. It is these qualities combined with Maggie’s that allowed them survive and thrive. Mountain Wild tells the story of two people who find each other under unusual circumstances and wind up with a love that is unusual in its intensity. Stacy Kayne’s books just keep getting better and better. Don’t miss this one. Be sure and pick it up and be prepared for entertainment at its best.

Lily Carrington discovers a bonus after she takes over a lumber yard. The man who killed her father is on the payroll. She resolves to visit the lumber yard and finally get her revenge on him. Juniper Barns is now a hard working sheriff, trying to put his past behind him. Dependable and fair, he has kept the lumber yard running by keeping everyone on an even keel in spite of the neglect by the former owner. Now Lily is here as the new owner, creating havoc and seeking revenge. Juniper realizes he will never be able to escape his past and resolves to end it here and now. Lily finds she cannot continue with her plans as everything goes wrong and she needs Juniper to save her and get back the stolen payroll. The only problem, the more she gets to know Juniper, the less he fits into the image she always had. She finds him to be decent and desireable and needs to reassess her past feelings in light of her new, impossible ones.

Stacey Kayne has brought to life two incredible characters with Lily and Juniper. Lily is one woman who knew what she wanted. She would go after it and no one could stand in her way. Intelligent and feisty, she was successful until Juniper. Juniper did not fit with what she knew was true. A man any woman would want, Juniper was fair, capable and sexy. He also saw the past as what would determine his life. Their learning and changing is what made this book such a delight. Witty conversations, non-stop action and romance at its best – The Gunslingers Untamed Bride has it all. Don’t miss Stacey Kayne’s The Gunslingers Untamed Bride – You would have missed an excellent, memorable book.
