Gabriel Black, con artist extraordinaire, just got busted. At least he was busted by a beautiful FBI agent. Now, he has a choice of doing time or conning his own family. Forced to bring Danita as a his girlfriend home with him, Gabriel begins to see lots of possibilities, especially when they have to share a room to keep up appearances. But Danita Cruz knows a few tricks of her own and soon the battle is more in the bedroom than out. As their passion explodes, it be beings to feel less like a con and more like something to be treasured. But is it enough to get one sexy con artist to revise his ways?

This was a great series. The Black siblings were amazingly resilient and sexy. Gabriel was one of the toughest to bring back to his home town but he did for family. What an incredible hero, Gabriel turned out to be – capable and sexy, dangerous and understated. He is the type to beat you before you even knew he was there. Danita was perfect for him. She had more than a few surprises of her own up her sleeve. The ending could not have been better, proving once again that Tawny Weber is major force in the world of romance. Great plot, memorable, sexy characters and more than a few surprises to keep the interest, Sex, Lies and Valentines by Tawny Weber ties up the Black saga with flair and satisfaction.

Nikki Cartwright knows accepting this once in a lifetime chance as the photographer for a high-profile marketing venture is the right thing to do but she is not sure how working with Jonas Steele will affect her. She has never forgotten that mind blowing kiss they shared over a year ago. She knows she will need to guard her heart from this sexy man, who knows his way with women.

Jonas Steele remembers that kiss as well and resolves to use this opportunity to get Nikki out of his system. But as they travel across four continents together, sharing so much, Jonas begins to realize he may never get her out of system. It may take a lifetime to do that. Now, though, he must convince Nikki.

Jonas Steele was a typical man. He sees what he wants and goes for it. With all his other women, he was able to let go but not with Nikki. You have to admire a man who knows when to stop running and to start chasing after something worth keeping. Nikki though was not sure she could believe this man famous for his womanizing ways. Jonas has his work cutout for him. Any Steele man worth his weight know just how to win. Brenda Jackson pens memorable characters and then gives them just the right story to showcase their talents and abilities. Private Arrangements is the perfect story for Jonas and Nikki, one designed to leave the reader with a happy sigh.

Review: AWOL with the Operative by Jean Thomas

8:24 am in February 2012, Harlequin Romantic Suspense, Reviews by Amelia

All the qualities that make the Harlequin Romantic Suspense line compelling are packed into the first book by Jean Thomas. There is nonstop peril throughout the book plus numerous issues caused by emotional turmoil, resulting in a constantly riveting story.

When the man whom the FBI was counting on to give them vital knowledge about a mob boss is mysteriously killed in Canada, the organization knows they need to talk with the woman who was with him. Though her relationship to the man is not known, they still want her brought back to Chicago for questioning and agent Sam McDonough is sent to retrieve her. When the two meet, his abrupt and unfriendly manners rub her wrong but she leaves with him anyway.

The only thing Sam wants is for this assignment to be over swiftly. Unfortunately, his wish will not be happening as their small plane is shot down and their lives turn into one nightmare after another. Eve quickly discovers that Sam is transformed after the mishap, as a hit to his head causes him to lose his memory. It also dramatically changes his personality, as his snippy attitude is now much more compassionate and pleasant. As they work together to keep the cold Canadian weather and the relentless criminals from killing them, Sam and Eve also battle the longing they feel for each other as it increasingly mounts.

Jean Thomas creates nonstop action from beginning to end in a romantic suspense novel. Whether an exploit is comprised of physical danger caused by the environment or a criminal with malevolent intent, these threats are always imminently looming in AWOL WITH THE OPERATIVE. There are quite a few times when triumph over a precarious situation seemed dire, as I saw no way for Sam and Eve to prevail over the seemingly hopeless circumstances. The freezing weather would have been bad enough by itself, but when the dilemma of those pursuing them is added, then the predicament is doubly worrisome for these two. While neither of them is prepared for what they have to face, I was especially surprised by how Eve responded during a number of incidents, proving her ability to be a quick thinker. Sam is a very complicated character, as his behavior is not the best before the plane crash but does a complete turnaround afterward. I liked how Eve could interpret his two dissimilar moods and the way she held her ground if warranted. Sam struggles with how he will interact with her during many instances, and I love seeing the mind and heart of the hero being so conflicted. The scenes where this couple lets their desire control the moment is expressed with plenty of passion and fiery heat, while the inner emotions they feel are conveyed through unspoken thoughts. Jean Thomas has written a very engrossing book for the romantic suspense line, and I look forward to many more titles from this talented author. AWOL WITH THE OPERATIVE is enthralling with dangerous intrigue, unforeseen turns and passionate desire.
