Review: DEFYING HER DESERT DUTY by Annie West

Zahir El Hashem has an obligation to escort Soraya Karim to her awaiting bridegroom, the Emir of Bakhara.  Both Zahir and Soraya are indebted to the Emir and they know their duty but the instant attraction between the two can not be denied.

Soraya was blissfully studying in Paris, pursuing a career forbidden to women in her country, when her previous life catches up with her.  She had been promised, at a young age, to the Emir as his perspective bride but she is not ready for the structured future which lies ahead.  Zahir owes everything to the Emir, his employer and mentor, but when he is asked to accompany Soraya on a leisurely return to Bakhara, his loyalty is sorely tested.  Are Soraya and Zahir destined for duty or love?

Favorite bestselling author Annie West has the magic touch when it comes to penning exotic romance.  A compelling book, DEFYING HER DESERT DUTY, draws the reader in with passionate characters placed in morally challenging positions.  Soraya’s and Zahir’s  allegiance to a good man and leader of their country collides with their love for each other, providing tension and emotional intensity that only the brilliantly gifted Annie West can create.

Review: Losing Control by Robyn Grady

cover

Workaholic Cole Hunter has always been the one in charge. It should, there fore, be no problem for him to handle the new TV producer Taryn Quinn. Her idea for a travel show does not interest him at all but the desire he feels for her does interest him. For that reason, Cole agrees to scout out a location for the show on an isolated Pacific island in spite of all the issues at home. Soon the home issues take a back seat to a romantic moonlit night with sexy Taryn right there with him.

Since his father’s health issues began, Cole, as the oldest in the family, felt it was his responsibility to control everything, both personal issues and professional situations. Taryn came under that but she refused to cooperate. As a result conflict arose whenever the two were together. Conflict creates tension and it did not take long for that tension to morph into a different type of tension- a type of tension that exploded with life altering affect.

Losing Control by Robyn Grady was an intriguing book to read. Cole was inflexible in the beginning. Taryn’s response to that was heated to say the least, making for some great scenes. Loveable characters, intriguing plot and a fantastic ending made Losing Control by Robyn Grady a story sure to captivate readers everywhere.

Review: Tarnished Rose of the Court by Amanda McCabe

cover

With little options left her, Celia Sutton agrees to go on a dangerous mission for Queen Elizabeth. Celia just wants to have a home of her own. She does not want it to include a husband. She went through that once already. However, she knows a woman in her position has very little choice and so she finds herself putting her life at risk with a co-conspirator she once loved and trusted. John Brandon is still as desirable as he was those many years ago, but Celia is not the same woman and she will not fall for him and his charm again.

For his part, John cannot believe the changes times has wrought in Celia. She is no longer the carefree happy English rose she was in the past. John had not wanted to leave Celia but he knew he had no choice. Now he wants to heal the damage he caused in the past and will use anything he has to be successful.

Amanda McCabe does an excellent job of transporting us back in time to Queen Elizabeth’s court. Tarnished Rose of the Court clearly illustrates how one careless word or one thoughtless action can have far reaching consequences. When John Left Celia, he never dreamed that she would suffer so much as a result. Now he is in a position to rectify some of that, but will Celia trust him and allow him to help.

Amanda McCabe drew us an amazing picture with Tarnished Rose of the Court. Clever schemes and court intrigues made life difficult. It was fascinating to watch them unfold and play out on the pages of Tarnished Rose of the Court. Amanda McCabe proves once again that she is a master storyteller.
